Real Bride Harriet wears custom Alena Leena
Harriet first stepped foot into our boutique in November 2023, right in the heart of our Alena Leena trunk show, and was instantly swept up in the magic of the Armeria skirt. Ethereal tulle, cascading ripples, and all the dreamy movement a modern romantic could ask for. But sleeves? Not quite her love story. With her bridal stylist in tow, she set off on a treasure hunt through the trunk show collection, searching for a bodice that felt just right. And so began Harriet’s custom gown journey. It was one that embraced the freedom to reimagine.
Harriet arrived at her appointment with a hopeful heart and her bridal party by her side. Tides Estate in Byron Bay was set to host her wedding. A vibrant, outdoor celebration filled with colour. The groomsmen would be in navy, the bridesmaids in sunshine yellow, with tulle bow heels that would tie everything together, including her bridal look.
She tried on a number of silhouettes before landing on the one that made her feel most herself: the Gloriosa bodice. Structured, strapless, and minimalist in design, it offered the perfect balance to the softness of the Armeria skirt. Together with her stylist, the vision took shape with the dream skirt, the perfect top, and the added bonus of a detachable mini version of the skirt for her reception. The two-piece design made it effortlessly interchangeable and gave Harriet a second look moment without compromising on comfort or cohesion.
Two days later, she returned to say yes to her custom Alena Leena ensemble. Not long after, a sketch of the gown was in her inbox and production began. In the months that followed, Harriet was sent regular updates, including imagery from their atelier in Ukraine. She was invited to give feedback as the gown came to life, making the journey feel collaborative, easy, and entirely stress-free.
On collection day, Harriet brought her mum and sister along for the grand reveal, along with the soft blue heels she planned to wear as her “something blue.” As she stepped into her gown for the first time, the entire vision came together in full colour. Her ensemble was topped off perfectly with a cathedral-length pearl veil.
On the big day in September of 2024, her guests were none the wiser about the dress being a three-piece custom creation. The transition to a mini skirt for the reception was a playful surprise and a crowd favourite. It added a joyful twist to the evening and was the perfect finale to a look that balanced whimsy with modern ease.
And for brides still searching? Harriet has one piece of advice: “Coming to The Veil Collective took the pressure and stress away. The support, creativity and ease of the process made everything so enjoyable. I would recommend them to everyone.”
A custom gown, a mini skirt twist, and a bride who trusted the process from the very beginning. Harriet’s wedding day look wasn’t just made for her, it was made by her.
