Real Bride Lucy wears Edelweiss by Alena Leena
When Lucy first stepped through the doors of The Veil Collective back in November of 2023, she brought with her the kind of energy we never forget. Warm, thoughtful, and fashion-savvy, Lucy had been lovingly pointed our way by a dear friend and bridesmaid who had also found “the one” here. Drawn to our range of designers and customisation options, Lucy arrived with a vision that was classic at heart, yet open to modern flourishes and most importantly, something that felt true to her.
Though she’d never imagined herself in a strapless or fitted gown, Lucy’s dress journey reminded us all that when it’s right, it’s right. She’d spotted Edelweiss by Alena Leena during her browse of the gallery and was instantly captivated by its feathered detailing, and that perfect touch of glitz. Once she slipped it on and saw how beautifully it framed her silhouette, it was clear this wasn’t just another bridal gown, it was the one that would become the star of her special day.
With a few custom changes, including shifting the feathers to start at the waist and softening the train, Lucy made Edelweiss her own. She affectionately named her gown “Big Bird,” a cheeky nod to its feathery flair, and we loved seeing her vision come together. She returned in June for a glass of bubbly to celebrate with us, and again in December to collect her masterpiece.
On May 3, 2025, Lucy and her husband said "I do" in a wedding that was nothing short of a production in the best way possible. Wearing Edelweiss and a delicate veil that felt like the perfect final touch (or, as Lucy said, the salt on the margarita tower), she radiated confidence, joy, and her signature unapologetic style.
She brought the perfect mix of polish and personality to her look, keeping accessories minimal but full of meaning: drop earrings, a treasured family heirloom ring, a tennis bracelet from her parents, and white leather Amina Muaddi slingbacks, chosen with their DIY farm-style wedding in mind. And when we say DIY, we’re talking full-on, built-it-from-scratch level. They built their entire venue from the ground up in the Fraser Coast Region, naming it Beelbi Sands.
Their personalities were the heartbeat of the celebration, shining through every detail. Think quirky custom signage, cowboy hat shenanigans, fence-straddling fun, and lively dance parties with their closest friends. They amped up the festivities with a towering Margarita station, a nonstop cocktail bar, handpicked DJ tracks, dazzling fireworks, and wrapped the night up with cheeseburgers. The outcome? A wedding that was utterly authentic, boldly unforgettable, and 100% them.
Lucy’s advice to future brides? Keep it real and pick what feels so you. From the dress to the shoes, hair, and makeup, make sure when you look back, you’re thinking, “Wow, that’s totally me.” Trends come and go, but your wedding day vibe should always be a reflection of the amazing person you already are.
Now, a month into married life, Lucy says they wouldn’t change a thing. And honestly? We wouldn’t either!
