Naldham House

On a crisp Monday morning in August, some of Brisbane’s finest wedding vendors gathered at Naldham House to create a styled wedding that was anything but ordinary. This wasn’t a typical, ivory-laden vision; instead, it was bold, moody and full of rich, unexpected colour. The day was designed to serve as the ultimate wedding inspiration, destined to grace Pinterest boards and spark creativity for couples looking to make a statement on their big day. Think luxurious shades of butter yellow, peacock blue and Persian red, artfully layered to create drama, depth and undeniable cinematic charm.

Perched on Felix Street, Naldham House is a historic gem tucked into Brisbane’s riverside dining precinct. Its architectural exterior sets the scene, while the interiors are steeped in character and mood. With four distinct dining spaces, each offering its own unique ambiance, the venue accommodates weddings that are as intimate as they are grand.

The day began on the Terrace, where our muses Bianca and Noa posed against the crisp white facade and a velvet-draped backdrop in the most striking peacock blue. Here, the gown of the day, Gina by Esty Style, truly came to life. Its luminous fabric, dropped waistline and statement ruching were perfectly paired with Old Hollywood-inspired blowout waves and a delicate pearl-accented veil, evoking a timeless glamour that felt both classy and modern. Our very own Jess T joined to care for Gina, making sure she was perfectly arranged from every angle, though let’s be honest, the gown practically shone on its own.

From the Terrace, the shoot moved into the Brasserie, where maroon booth seating and butter-yellow menu books provided a rich, magazine-worthy backdrop for intimate moments and playful shots. Every corner of the venue revealed new opportunities for storytelling, from candid interactions to styled portraits that captured the mood of the day.

The journey then continued to Club Felix on the second floor, a vibrant reception space awash in shades of blue, complete with long booth seating, cushioned chairs, a bar, a piano and striking artwork. Here, exquisite tablescapes took centre stage with ribboned table numbers, lace-edged name cards, those signature butter-yellow menus and a velvet-draped seating chart alongside an old-fashioned thank-you card creating a scene that was at once luxurious, inviting and cinematic. The shoot even captured a moody, golden-hour inspired elevator moment with Bianca and Noa basking in the warm orange glow, a perfect nod to the old school glamour woven throughout the day.

The final chapter of the shoot was a celebration in miniature with cake and champagne. A dome-shaped butter-yellow cake adorned with a dainty lace bow sat alongside short champagne flutes garnished with cherries while custom pizza boxes and chip packets ensured that every personalised wedding touch was accounted for, even late-night dancefloor cravings.

Of course, no styled shoot is complete without the incredible team behind it and this day was elevated by the talent and warmth of George Bowden Photography, House of Harvey, Shannon Hope Make Up, The Wedded Memoirs and Video, and Fiflar. Grounded, professional and endlessly collaborative, this group of vendors brought the vision to life with ease and artistry, creating a moody, glamorous and a styled wedding we’ll be reliving over and over for weeks to come. For brides dreaming up their own day, let this serve as gentle encouragement not to shy away from colour if it speaks to your vision.
